Vercovicium.....

......the Roman fort now called Housesteads which is on Hadrians Wall. We visited here today ....it’s fascinating with very clear descriptions of how the town would have looked in AD 250-300. There was a very grand home for the Governor and his family .... I couldn’t help wondering how the Roman wives must have felt coming there from Italy.
