Cabbage tree

I have heard that some people can predict the type of summer we will have by when the cabbage tree (Cordyline australis) comes into flower. If it flowers early in October, it will be a dry summer. This large tree is in an old cemetery in the CBD and looks to have been in flower for some time. I love the structure of these trees, make great silhouettes in landscape photos.
