Damn bin lorries

This bin lorry (driver of) seemed to take great glee in a) driving through a flooded lane which had left at least 2 cars stranded with water up the exhaust, and b) NOT slowing down, which meant that the 3 walkers all got the wave in their wellies.

This is Essex! Its flat, very wet, and getting chilly. Luckily for us we live on a 'hill' - I use the word with caution, as those of you in places with mountains wouldn't notice the slight raise in ground level between us and the river - but it is enough.

We'd been to a Paper Mill Lock - a place on the Heybridge - Chelmsford canal that gets flooded often. This year there is alot more water than usual, and a very grumpy 'Look East' presenter in wellies, waiting for 1.30 when they were going to do their news report to camera. Not very chatty - too cold, or just too self important: difficult to tell.

I'd borrowed the daughters wellies, only to find that when I went for a paddle that they had a 2 inch hole in the side, which let in a lovely cooling burst of fresh water (not). Very stinky.
