Making do and getting by (for now)
There has been a market on Sclater Street in Shoreditch for over 200 years. I've been a regular visitor for 40 of them and sadly this is all that's left.
What used to stretch from Club Row to Brick Lane (and included London's only live animal market until the early 1980's) has now retreated to this pocket hankie bombsite.
While the spirit of the market is still alive, just, you can see the crushing effect the rapidly encroaching developments have on the notion of making do and getting by.
