Pointless

The neat and well positioned gate on this footpath seems to be rather pointless. I'm sure it was essential at some time but now, with the fence falling down, it has become rather pointless. Who is going to open the gate to continue their walk rather than step over the broken fence? A suitable candidate for Derelict Sunday though.

With John away, it was my job to walk the dog this morning. I'm just wondering whether to venture out again. It's now early evening and dark and there are fireworks going off everywhere. Pepper has not been bothered by all the pops and bangs so far, but I'm not sure whether the risk, albeit small, of something spooking her is worth it. Henry the cat is definitely disturbed by the weekend of explosions but it has been rather wearing, to say the least.
