Beautiful light in Staithes

A very dull start to our day but by the time we were ready to venture forth there was blue sky beginning to emerge, though not in the direction of Rosedale where dark clouds and mist shrouded the valley (it was still there when we returned home).  By the time we arrived in Staithes the sun had come out.  We decided to park on the Cowbar side and walk down to take in the view made famous by Joe Cornish.  The light was stunning (see extra) and once we lost the breeze at the top of the cliff it was just so mild. The polar bear sculpture by Emma Stothard has arrived since we were last in the village - as part of the 2018 Art Week celebrations and her blue lobster is on the cliff top, standing as guardian of the main car-park and a sentinel in the newly planted garden.

Crab sandwich lunch in the pub on the Main Street (the Royal George and not the Cod and Lobster) and a lovely walk around the village with lots of photos taken in the beautiful light.
