The accidental finding

Festive retail trolley

I raced off to town this morning, to deliver some Christmas cards to a customer, and to have s blood test for diabetes. The man in the pharmacy was inexperienced, and I ended up getting my thumb punctured four times! Eventually he called for help, and we got the blood drop in the right place on the testing strip. My result was fine. It always is, but my family history of diabetes and kidney troubles means I'd rather be safe...

At 11.00 I boarded a bus for Bath, via Minchinhampton, Avening, Tetbury, Old Sodbury, Chipping Sodbury, Westerleigh, Pucklechurch, and so on. The weather was sunny and the landscape stunning. Reason for visit? I had a suitcase and a bag full of cards and advent calendars to sell at a nursing home, which I first visited 2 years ago. I found the home with relative ease, and discovered that the activities co-ordinator had left a decorated trolley out for me! I set out my cards and lights, and put out the advent calendars on the mantelpiece and piano. Then the residents and staff were brought to my 'shop', or some cards were taken to the resident's rooms for consideration.

Thanks to the help of the co-ordinator, I made good sales, but the entire process took three hours! I trolleyed my luggage off to Weston village, and from there into Bath city centre. There wasn't a bus for ages, so I went to Nero's first. The bus, when it did come, went past the Abbey on its way out. I like Bath, so I've decided to revisit one day, by bus, before Christmas, but without dragging a suitcase.

Got home at about 8pm, cheered by a last minute encounter. The bus had been empty for about an hour, apart from me and the driver. As we neared Stroud, several middle aged men got on. The driver told them he was only going to the depot, not the town, but they agreed to get on. On being asked by the driver where they were going to, they said they were going to a concert by the Wurzels in Stroud's sub rooms. https://youtu.be/J6V2TxJJ_bI
They were leaving the cars at home so they could have a drink. The kindly driver offered to accidentally forget to stop at the depot, but to take them all the way in!

I had to get off before they did, but I wished them a cider-drinkin' evening and headed off up the hill to home.
