Lanterns Under the Castle

Not my usual Friday morning routine.  I was up and out early to get a bus into Edinburgh to go for a haircut.  No run for me today.  I was in Edinburgh in good time, so took a walk through Princes Street Gardens to kill some time.  Once I was shorn, I headed back and wandered along Princes Street, popped into a couple of shops, bought a couple of books and then some food for lunch, before catching the bus home.  Amazingly I was home before BB.  He came home with apple crumble (extra) – this week’s home economics offering.

Next stop for me was Portobello, to collect the shoes and boots I had dropped at the cobblers last week.  I also had another boot with me that needed fixed and he offered to do it for me if I could come back in half an hour. Id din’t really have half an hour to spare, but  I wandered, collected it and then came home.

On my way home, I remembered that we had to provide food for after the rugby match tomorrow, so had to take a detour to the supermarket to stock up.  It was then home to get BB sorted for his Halloween night hike with Scouts.  I dropped him in Gifford and it seemed very dark.  They were walking back to Haddington, then spending the night at the Scout hut.

I then rushed home, got changed, dropped BB’s sleeping bag and stuff at the Scout hut, dropped the car off at home and rushed out to meet friends from the bus as we were all going out for a  meal.

By the time I got to our venue, I was in desperate need of a drink – my first since September, as I did sober October.  TT appeared late, due to work commitments.  He missed out on a starter, but made up for it with his main and pudding – and there was wine of course.

We got home late, after a lovely evening.

I spotted these colourful  lanterns in Princes Street Gardens, they are for the Diwali celebrations.
