Terrifying Tales Trail
Woke this morning to a sunny but frosty morning just right for a visit to the Black Country Living Museum for their 'Terrifying Tales Trail' with my eldest daughter. For the schools half term holidays and also to coincide with Halloween the museum had organised the trail around the museum at various places around the site you could learn about some of the myths, customs and superstitions of the Black Country it was very interesting and fun to learn about the different things I learnt things I didn't know for example before the pumpkin became the Halloween decoration people used to carve faces into turnips and placed these near the doorways to keep away evil spirits. And of course no visit to the museum would be complete without fish and chips cooked in beef dripping from the museum fish and chip shop ( bang goes the diet). Had a lovely day but back to work on Monday unless I try another of the superstitions, miners in the area were very superstitous and relied on signs which would warn them of impending doom. If they met a cross-eyed woman or saw a robin sitting on the wall on their way to work they would turn around and go back home. Might try that with my headteacher on Monday do you think it might work?
No me neither.
