Wikawa Marae
Ko Piripiri te maunga, Ko Waitohi te awa, Ko Waikawa te marae, Ko Arapaoa te whare tupuna, Ko Te Atiawa ki Te Tau Ihu te iwi
Our year 7-8 students began their camp today with an overnight visit to the Wikawa Marae. As 'foreigners' me and a couple of other teachers decided to tag along for the cultural experience. It was an awesome experience, fascinating and moving at the same time.
I also got to sing inMaori, no mean feat for a Pom
