I can't even begin to guess how many steps a pedometer would show if attached to Bella (the spaniel). Young and enthusiastic, eager to explore every inch of the woods.

Meanwhile, Connie, now approaching twelve, idles along. Every now and then she reverts to youthfulness, but it's shortlived, and she falls back into step behind me, ever hopeful that a biscuit may appear.
