Happy Birthday, Tony
My father was born on November 26, 1909. We say, "He would have been 103 today..." which doesn't make much sense, since he died in 1988. But we speak of our parents that way--I guess it keeps them here a little bit longer.
The photo is of an accordion book I made a few years ago about my father's family; there are pages for pictures of their farm, and each person has a page with a photo and some notes. My father was so eager to try new things: he loved cars and airplanes and cameras and skiing. The old car in the photos is something cobbled together; they had no money, but they sure knew how to make do.
So here's to you, Daddy. I wish you could see where photography has gone in the past 25 years!
