GEORGIAN BOB
This English shilling from the year I was born is what I lost a fortnight ago while I was moving offices. I found it by chance yesterday somewhere there was no explicable reason for me to have put it. So here it is, as promised, and because there was no way I was going outside for a blip today. My other silver Georgian shilling cleaned up with a quick application of silver polish, but this one is cupronickel and resisted my attempts to clean it.
I've been trying to find out the derivation of "bob" as slang for a shilling, and apart from a possible link with "bawbee" (a debased copper coin) nobody seems to have an explanation.
