Finished work a wee bit early today and took the opportunity of getting out into the beautiful autumnal afternoon.

This statue of Dr Peter Denny stands on the southern side of Dumbarton Municipal Buildings.

It was sculpted by Sir William "Hamo" Thornycroft.

The statue was finished in 1898 and it is ten feet six inches high.

The total height, including the pedestal, is twenty-one feet. The figure of Dr Denny is holding the bow portion of a ship in one hand, and a roll of manuscript in the other.

The municipal buildings have recently been refurbished and the whole facade is stunning.
