Sad Day

Sad day as our local post office in the village has closed.  Many years ago it had it's own premises and then it moved into the local newsagents.  Several years ago it moved inside this store but apparently the lease on the store has run out and has not been renewed.  Several people who work in the post office and the store have been made redundant.  We have recently had a bank downgraded to just a place where you pay in and take out money.  It's a worrying situation for our village and I'm sure many others in the UK.

Just like the thing, I needed to post an airmail letter and a parcel today so had to go to the Metro Centre where I had a long wait in the queue.  One of the ladies who worked in our local post office has transferred to this one but she is only working a couple of days a week and told me she needed to find a full time job.  She also said that the post office was making money but she didn't think the grocery shop was and that was the reason why the lease was not renewed.
