Keep the home fires burning.....

Baltic cold today but mainly dry.
A morning of cattle work . A 3 bike rodeo to bring all the 80 odd heifers down from the hill for the winter. Went quite well- only one jumped a fence and remains at large. Hopefully she will jump in beside the nearby cows and calves .
The calf that had bloat on Sunday decided to blow up again and as I was busy trying to tube it to relieve the pressure it decided to lie down and die on me. Just as Mr Brown from Murray Farmcare walked round the corner and asked how I was doing !
The McCormick tractor I have the use of was commandeered by them to go to the Scottish Ploughing Championship at Kelso this weekend so won’t be using it for a day or two.
My mechanic pal up tonight to sort the silage feeder bearing and weld various bits back together. It worked out quite well as MrsF was hosting her book group ladies tonight, and it gave me an excuse to keep outside for most of the night. So cold that I had to light the living room fire for them. By the end of the evening they were complaining about the heat !
