A PORTRAIT
Beautiful weather today. We took the U Bahn to the Karls Platz, but did not visit the church with that name. From the outside it was impressive enough.
Then we walked to the Belvedere, build by Prince Eugen in the 18th century for a pretty summer palace. Now one can freely walk everywhere, and because it is today a national festive day, there were many persons who did that.
I saw a marvellous butterfly, but in the time I had changed my lens, the butterfly had disappeared. While Piet Hein sat on a bench I walked along the borders where I hoped to find this unusual beauty. But no, no luck here.
At the top of the Belvedere we entered the Alpine garden, part of the Botanic gardens of the university. And we walked down through the gardens all the way, seeing interesting trees, plants, and a little squirrel,
a red one, but almost black. We could follow him/her jumping at the branches, till she climbed a wall and footsie she was gone.
We had eaten our sandwich, and looked when we had left the Belvedere
for a coffee.
Then we travelled to the Schottentor, visited the Votiv Kirche, and for nostalgic reasons walked down the Berggasse, where Sigmund Freud had lived and worked, it is a museum.
We walked now in a part where we could not find easily our way, much looking at the map. We find our way to the Judenplatz, and from there to the Graben. Time to travel home!!
Just a minute ago Mischa has send us a message that she had arrived safely in Portugal, where she found her friend waiting for her. Together they will enjoy a holiday there.
My photo shows a Viennese man, reading a paper at the tramstation.
Tomorrow again a Silly Saturday Challenge. The tag is #SilS108, or #SillySaturday108, and #SillySaturday is also good.
I look forward to find the silly photos in the galleries.
