Fox-and-cubs
Another bright and warm day, much of it spent preparing for the last field trip of the season, to Lancashire. So a mix of preparing data sheets and equipment, along with using up some of the fruit I'd bought to make quince jelly and peach and chilli chutney. The quince jelly was a real success - even though I rather cheated it came out a wonderful coral-pink colour, with a sweetly perfumed scent and just the right degree of tartness. We may have to go back to the farm shop to see if they have any more quinces!
There wasn't much time for photography, and these bright and cheery blooms of orange hawkweed, also known as fox-and-cubs, were taken in the garden. I managed a short walk round Thorpe Wood and the river, on the lookout for fungi, but they still seem to be very few and far between here in the east.
