Smoo Cave

A full day.
The drive to Durness was long and alternates between beautiful places eg Unapool and bleak remoteness. Single track road between Kinlochbervie and Durness, part of North Coast 500.
I was bemused to see a John Lennon memorial in Durness but Floss told
me he used to go there for his holidays as a boy.
The Smoo Cave was full of water so we could only see the first cavern. Of course we had to make a Loveleys stone on the hill.
We had a very Scottish picnic then headed to Balnakiel Craft Village so the girls could make candles as part of their Hallowe’en Festival. We also had a wander around and a cuppa in the Chocolate cafe.
Long drive back home, obligatory stop at Tesco then pizza and a film- Uncle Buck. Didn’t realise this is a Hohn Hughes film. It’s fabulously 80’s.
