Best seats in the house (2)
A "morning after the night before" view of the beach, looking rather bleak and unglamorous. Even early in the morning there's always activity - the standing man is doing some some sort of sun salute, and a skein of pelicans has just flown past the two people set up on their beach chairs ready for the sunny afternoon to come.
The different colored bands of sand are mostly due to it being moved about in bulk by bulldozers this spring following "improvements" made to the road and pedestrian access along by the harbor. There are also seasonal changes - in summer they pile up sand to stop the water flowing out of the lake behind, and in winter they pipe the silt and sand dredged from the harbor entrance onto this stretch too. Add to that the wood fires burning here every night, and the soot won't be washed away until we get the first real winter storm - it all adds up to a fairly grubby beach by the end of summer.
