Affirming

I attended the meeting with government officials dressed appropriately and having used my own hygiene items. Hooray. I did a better job of paying attention than four of the native French speakers.

I had dinner with a friend who lives here now. It was so affirming. We haven’t seen each other for over two years so I was quite wounded when he last saw me. He marveled at how much I’ve recovered.

Haiti is visually fascinating but it is not safe so I’m not going to go out taking pictures.
There are people carefully sweeping driveways and sidewalks impassable with garbage. There are many solar panels. There are stairs to houses with no railings that remind me of an Escher print I had in college.
