Model of a sash lock
Today I visited our local museum. I saw a very interesting exhibition about Jan Blanken, the main designer of water engineering around 1800. He worked directly with King Lodewijk Napoleon and later with King Willem I. Jan Blanken lived in Vianen, my hometown.
Amongst his achievements are several important canals, the naval harbour in Den Helder, a dry dock in Hellevoetsluis and the sash lock in the blip, situated on the other side of the river from Vianen.
