The Strange Case
Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,
I had great fun chatting to you this morning O’H dear. When The Mini Princess rudely interrupted our chat and then joined in, it felt like you were just sitting in the room with us!
I had to take Murphy to the vet this afternoon as the skin on his paws and legs has been irritated. Murphy has now realised that his past behaviour at the vet does not show him in a good light so he has developed a new tactic...
He sits beautifully in the waiting room. The reception staff coo over him and give him biscuits (which he obediently sits for). He wags his tail at the other dogs. The vet calls us through and he happily gets on the scales for her. We go into her room. She closes the door and I explain the issue. She kneels down and Murphy decides that this isn’t happening. She isn’t touching him. No f’in way. He jumped all over her like a lunatic.
On the basis of her brief examination, she thinks it’s caused by something environmental and probably seasonal. For the moment, he is on anti allergy medication. She said that if it doesn’t clear then she will probably have to sedate him to examine him as he is ‘quite excitable’.
In fairness, I can see how it might be quite difficult to look at a dog’s paws when two of them are on your shoulders and he is licking your face!
We left her room and Hyde transformed back to the good doctor. Murphy walked right to heel and sat down while I made an appointment. The reception staff gave him more cuddles and told him how good he is.
I rushed out before they could find the vet rocking in the corner!
