An Admirable Solo Dad

There is still no sign of mother blackbird and I now think the worst has happened. There are 3 chicks and father blackbird is on the go from dawn to dusk, keeping them fed. All I can do is make sure there is food easily found and have been keeping a steady supply of apples and kiwifruit available on the deck.

Any other bird who approaches the food gets chased off immediately.

In the extra is the father and 3 babies. You can see all that is left of the apple, beside him on the deck. They dont waste much.
