The Year of the Amanita

Another local walk today. Like most of the woodlands I've visited recently, there were Fly Agaric aplenty. This time, I found some Blushers (Amanita rubescens) too. It's been a strange year for fungi. I know from my contacts that different parts of the country have had different experiences, but here there seems to be very little on the grasslands (so far), and only now are we seeing woodland species, in some cases in large numbers. It remains to be seen if everything is late. I can only imagine this odd pattern is a result of the Beast from the East and / or the dry, hot Summer.
