All Change (6)

Another 'record' Blip showing the progress with the alterations to our front room and tagged 'New Gas Fire'. After all the building work earlier in the year and the gas fire being fitted in June, there has been no further progress but today, the carpenter started to build the cupboards and shelving on either side of the fireplace. He's worth waiting for; he only takes on work from people he has worked for before, but you still need to book him nearly a year in advance. Fortunately, he has done quite a lot for us over the years so we are one of his favoured clients! Once he is finished the decorating can begin and finally, the new carpet can be laid. We're hoping that will be before Christmas but the decorator is also popular and we are his last pre-Christmas job so realistically, we'll probably still have the old carpet and bare concrete until the New Year. It's still nice to see something happening though, after four months of looking at bare plaster!
