Bridges are necessary to allow people to pass from one place to another, often one bank of a river to another. Bridgebuilding, as a metaphor, is often used in peacebuilding when brave people create spaces that allow access to the "other" shore. Spaces which can facilitate conversations which would otherwise not take place. Peacebuilding is a process, whose results can only be measured in the long term. Peace is a journey not a destination and more bridgebuilders are needed.
