Shepherds or sailors?

I usually say " Red sky at night shepherd's delight" but I know some folk refer it to sailors.  I've googled it (how did we manage without Google?) and it seems to be either is acceptable.  Not many sailors in this part of the country so I'll stick with shepherds!
