Anna weaving.... bike tubes

There is a big focus on bikes and biking in our city - our mountain bike tracks bring a lot of visitors to our city.  Yesterday saw the opening of the  Bike Festival which runs for a week with events for almost anyone from serious competitors to families, and preschoolers to those who know no fear. This morning I read that two local artists were inviting people to join them and have some fun creating some bike inspired art. Marilyn is a mosaic artist and Anna, a well known flax weaver who is weaving bike tubes. Anna is a beautiful weaver and curiosity to see how she was using the tubes got the better of me and I dropped by late morning to have a look. I will drop by later in the week to see how it's going.  The reddish colour is reflected from the gazebo roof.
