Paninario

Back in early '80 in the pre internet stone age , the only access to fashion for Yugoslav young  adults were shopping trips to Trieste where we would spend our precious   hard currency for pair of jeans. There  we would see for the fist time  then prevailing Italian  fashion tribe Paninarios (from panini sandwich ) : boat shoes, Burlington socks , polo shirts and dawn jackets; Italian take on Americana. Paninarios were just one of the tribes , when they grow up they would switch into `'English gentlemen " tribe checks ,brogues and flannels and for their late middle age rebellion they would turn into Hells Angels. So maybe some of these grey  bikers I saw today in Leicester Square are same Panainrios from 30 plus years I envied in Trieste
