Baltimore Oriole
Something like the 27th ever seen in Britain and today Brian and I headed off to Barra to try and catch up with this one. As you can see we managed good views, although after almost three-quarters of an hour waiting things were not looking too good. In Hebridean terms a big twitch with four other birdwatchers about as well as ourselves.
A potter around a few other spots on the island produced little but the highly recommended Turkish Delight ice-cream was tried and found to be excellent. Warm enough in late October to eat an ice-cream cone? Global warming can't be all bad......
Back to Grimsay and a local take on a fish and chip supper which is half a lobster and chips, served in the modern tradition of a nasty white polystyrene box.
