Then & Now

Kirkcaldy Photographic Society is shortly celebrating its 120th Anniversary with an exhibition. Half will be a show of current members' work. The other half will be a collection of old photos of Kirkcaldy paired with the current equivalent. Here is one that I took but for the purpose of this Blip, I have combined them into a single image.

This was the site of the old 'Trocadero Cafe' - fondly remembered by 'those of a certain age'.

This old/new task has not always been easy. One old photo showed a wide angle view of a bandstand in parkland with a few newly planted and staked saplings in the foreground. The astute reader will no doubt already have anticipated my next sentence. The bandstand was demolished 10 to 15 years ago and the view is now totally obscured by several mature trees.
