Fish lantern
We made a lantern today!

Looking for some lantern ideas, we came across some fancy lanterns and decided to make our own....!
After wandering around all afternoon to find willow rods in arts and crafts shops (to no avail), we stopped by the florists and got some cornus branches.
These turned out to be sufficiently bendy, and with four branches, we set out to design an awesome lantern. Well. A simple one to start off with, since we're new at this.
The most evident for starting out turned out to be... a fish.
We started with the basic fish design, added a couple of "gill" rods to allow the candle to breathe and voila - a basic lantern!
Things learnt: tissue paper is very flimsy, do not try to make it taught on the frame; two are better than one when trying to keep things in place and tape them down; measure twice cut once - or measure never, cut lots.
