Andermass

Back in Perth today to do a bit of YesScotland streetwork and there was a 'medieval market' taking place in the town centre as well - Andermass. The old market at St Andrew's Mass from Perth's Middle Ages.

To be honest, there wasn't all that much medieval about it unless you really think they were making and selling dreamcatchers in 12th century Scotland. Maybe they were at that.

But these musicians were a bit more authentic and I was pleased to see them because I rather like early music. They are called Gaita and they play the instruments of the period. Their CD 'O Dulcis Scotia' is well worth a listen. Another reminder that even in medieval Scotland there was more to our culture than just fighting.
