Healing
We had a bit of an unsettled night which meant I gave in and got up at five, put in three loads of washing; stewed a large pan of Bramleys from the allotment, made two pies for the freezer from the Howgate Wonders and eventually took Tony his breakfast. We then went up to the allotment briefly to check out the windfalls and dig up some spuds, before heading out in to St Ives on the first of two walks for Tony today. They are continuing to hack out and burn the rhododendrons in the estate which harboured the virus deadly to the larches and, in doing so, they have uncovered more of the ruined Victorian water features on the hillside below the Mansion. It's difficult to tell what they were but the knowledgeable chap in the Friends of St Ives information room had lots to tell me about the estate. I've promised to blip the 'ruined pool' we could see from the path this morning and show it to him next Wednesday.
After lunch (we are gradually working through the large bag of sausages Becky purchased in error!) Tony tried a circuit of the Moor successfully whilst I mowed the grass, hopefully for the last time till Spring, and then cut back the tatty fuschia which insists on flourishing despite my attempts to finish it off.
I was flagging by the time I sat down late afternoon and fell asleep briefly during Tipping Point. Hopefully, we will both sleep better tonight.
