Penny loafers

A new pair as my old moccasins have finally died! They have given good service however for at least 20 years.
The new penny loafers cost nearly twice as much as the old Chaney moccasins! Interestingly they got their name back in the 1930’s from Norwegian farmers (?) who wore a similar slip on shoe when dealing with the cattle which just loafed about. The Penny bit came from American kids who used to slip a dime or two (no mobile phones only phone boxes) in the band over the arch.
There today’s useless piece of information...!
