Wojtek the Bear

My landline and internet have just returned after being down for about 36 hours.  No explanation as yet but there are roadworks at the end of our street so I have my suspicions.
I was asked to go through to Edinburgh today to get an extended  set of images of this Bear who was something of a war hero. He was actually drafted into the Polish army as a Private.
Wojtek - dubbed the "Soldier Bear" - was adopted by Polish troops and helped them carry ammunition at the Battle of Monte Cassino.
After the war he lived in Scotland at Hutton in Berwickshire, before ending his days in Edinburgh Zoo.  The statue is in Princes Street Gardens, and there are lots of stories about this amazing bear if you want to look him up.
