My daughter has been studying very hard for her exam, and this daruma is on her desk whenever she studies. The kanji reads, "Passed," and the daruma is believed to confer good fortune upon the owner. It was a gift to her from her grandfather.
Daruma are also popular as toys that, whenever they are pushed over, always return to the upright position. Much like these chaps.
