Old and sort of old.......
..... the Forth Bridge - a stirring, astounding structure by any standards, even today and the St. Ayles Skiff, Jenny Skylark (which Jess and I helped to build and photographed as it took shape) which although oof a traditional shape and design, is very recent.
BBC film maker David Calder and myself with Jess took our rescue boat up the Firth of Forth to record the launch of Ferry Maid, a new skiff and South Queensferry's second. There are now 94 around the world from none three years ago. A great arc of people brought the boat into being and it is a tribute to Scotland's strong community spirit that it has taken off as well as it has.
You can build these beautiful, graceful boats in small workshop for a kids available from Jordan Boats - http://jordanboats.co.uk/JB/ for around £3,000., Lottery finding is available for these lovely wee boats and you'll end up being fit too!
