Dazed and concussed.
I am very mindful of our windows, and where to not put feeders so the birds don't get confused and fly into them. I've worked with window clings, and curtains and it almost always works out well.
Sometimes though, there's a small bird spooked by a big bird, and the sun in the right spot, and not a cloud in the sky and that results in a dazed Goldfinch on the porch steps. It's always a Goldfinch; it's always the porch steps.
In a few weeks I'll be rescuing Juncos, lured by the smell of sunflowerseeds, locking themselves in the garage.
Life is nothing if not cyclical.
