Sonata For A Man And A Boy
I went to see this charming play today with a friend at the Traverse Theatre. I took this photo before the performance had begun, but it's still probably illicit, so please don't tell on me! This is what the theatre said about the play:
Sonata for a Man and a Boy is a duet featuring live cello music, chat and movement. An everyday cello lesson becomes a journey into the unexpected for a boy who's nearly twelve and a thirtysomething man. As their roles shift and change and the lesson is turned on its head, we begin to wonder: do we ever really grow up?
We learned that the piece had been several years in the making - there was excellent chemistry in the relationship between the man and the boy which must have grown out of that. It was something that made you feel better about life in general - we came out of the theatre feeling happier than when we went in.
