View from the fell...

and what a view it was.  Having woken to a frost this morning we set off to explore the area.  This was taken mid morning as we drove over the fell.. glorious misty morning.  We descended into the valley and stopped at a chocolate factory and had a large mug of hot chocolate in the sunshine... honestly you cannot ask for anything better than that in mid october!!!  Just two days ago this area was being thrashed by 72mph winds which sadly has cleared a lot of the colour from the trees unless they are in sheltered positions.  I am thoroughly looking forward to a couple of days painting up here.  This afternoon we found a quiet spot and did a quick sketch.. l was leaning up against a field gate when an inquisitive young bullock ventured over to see what l was up to.  He had a good lick of my sketch book and my elbow while l was trying to balance my book, water and paints just out of his reach.. he was a friendly little fellow and seemed very interested in what l was up to!!
