Damp

Its been a miserable couple of days, with non-stop dampness ranging from heavy downpours to fine mist. The cats are fed up at not being able to lounge in the garden, though Poppy's braved the weather more than her sisters. This morning she came home with rain-spangled fur - and then asked very vociferously for a small piece of cheese to make her feel better!

The bad weather has its good points, and I've actually made good progress with my current report, cleaned and tidied my studio and managed to prepare over half of  a Powerpoint presentation that I'm giving in early November. 

It was also a good day for preparing a birthday meal for Alex. Seven of us sat down to a feast of pan-seared scallops with spinach and crispy bacon or calamari with a citrus salad followed by venison with a blackberry and red wine jus, celeriac gratin, kale and hasselback potatoes and home made rice-pudding with blueberry and lime compote for dessert. Needless to say we're all feeling rather replete now!
