Sgorr na Diollaid
Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain.
It’s not raining, not foggy, not windy. We decide to climb a local Corbett, Sgorr na Diollaid (818m). It’s a pathless, heather covered hill, with the usual false summits. https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochness/sgorr-na-diollaid.shtml
We eat our lunch near the top, scramble the final few metres, and then descend via an alternative route. Megs is taking the train from Inverness, and we’re there in plenty of time. Enough time, in fact, for her to put away a two course meal.
Claire and I join the queue of vehicles heading down the A9. It’s bleak, but glorious in the afternoon sun. Back home, night has fallen. A Manitou drives past us, lights blazing. Turns out Nick had got his pickup stuck coming up from the barn and had to be rescued. The track will be mashed - but haven’t checked yet.
