Everyday I Write The Book

The lesson

Bought this clock in Tel Aviv. I try to bring things home from our travels that act as a permanent reminder of how I felt and this says it all for me. I like the diversity of colours and the idea that you are in charge, minute by minute, of creating the constantly updated version of you.

It rained all day today. We were both in a bit of a zombie state from getting to sleep at the equivalent of 4am after flying back. The Dizzle had picked us up just after midnight UK time, having been down to Devon earlier in the day to do a 10k assault course run as a Royal Marines charity fundraiser, and was waiting at the gate for us with the event t shirt on, wearing pyjama bottoms, a beanie hat and a big grin, and carrying a very large cup of coffee. Strider was delighted to see us and gave the usual big hugs. And the cats didn’t let us out of their sight most of the day, they were that glad to see us.

I spent the day alternating between doing stuff around the house and just collapsing (even going back to bed for an hour and a half at one point). Couldn’t bear the culture shock of going into the local shops (Woking is slightly different to Tel Aviv) so just got by with the basics. TSM made a very good first attempt at vegan scrambled egg Anastasia style. We have the makings of a permanent culinary reminder of our trip too ...

In bed at 8.00 and fast asleep at 9.00; this entry was done at 4.00 am the next day. The price you pay for travelling is often a displaced body clock ... but it was worth it ...
