Catch!

I don’t suppose they shout anything so mundane!  Yes we were at the NFL game this evening at Wembley stadium.  The stadium is vast !  1 km round the outside circumference.  Today 85 000 watched the match.  A good match if you were a Seahawk, not so good if you were an Oakland raider!

We left the hotel to go to St Mary’s church in Croydon.  A beautiful mass but much longer than a normal mass.  You can follow on the Internet!

Then we headed into town.  At Victoria we found a Wagamama and both really enjoyed our choices of different currys with brown rice.  It pelted when we were in there but we only had about 100 yards not under cover and we were in the underground to Wembley.  We have been really lucky all day!  No soaking for us!

We arrived way too early for the game so went to see the tailgate area!  Stalls etc some with enormous queues for merchandise.

We went into Costas for a drink and shared a table with a lovely couple from near Sacramento, California.  She was a Raiders fan and he supports the LA Rams.  We spent at least an hour chatting.  It rained while we chatted!

Then we queued to get in and we had a relatively short queue.  Ro chatted to a young man, a Seattle Seahawk fan and I was astounded at how much Ro knows about American football!  There are so many fans, especially from Seattle who have made the journey over!

My blip: the guy with the ball, the quarterback has just received it from the guy in front who has it to start with.  (Not unlike a rugby scrum so far. Ouch I hear those that know the two games disagreeing! ) He’s called the center.  The quarterback is giving it to the guy behind, the running back.  in front you can see the wide receiver getting free in case the ball comes his way.  Right behind you can see the two red posts that travel up and down the side of the field, marking the progress up the field.

The Raiders have the ball in this shot.  Black tops.  The Seahawks have the white tops and won by 23 to 3.  I’m trying to learn about the sport.  There’s so much to learn!

Oh dear!  I’m not sure we have any pink in this shot.  Maybe the bare midriffs of some of the Raiderettes, the cheerleaders who kept us entertained when nothing else was happening!  Brr!  I wouldn’t like their job.

In their honour would you click on the link for mammograms for those who can’t afford them and then on the pink bar!  Many thanks!
