Autumn Planting
I had a bit of a treat today - a box filled with eight varieties of seed garlic arrived from The Garlic Farm on the Isle of Wight. They will be the first crop I plant at my new allotment. Some need to be planted now, others will wait until January. This particular variety is called Red Duke and is a heritage variety.
The day was warm for October - 21 degrees centigrade! We walked Merlin and then I drove to Liss to collect my wheelbarrow and other gardening paraphernalia from the garage. The afternoon was spent unpacking the car and finding space for all the items in the garage.
The sun was shining brightly so I spent an hour at the allotment - you've guessed it - doing more digging - very satisfying! Then it was home to walk Merlin again (we saw the Barn Owl coming out for an early evening hunting trip) and to eat a delicious prawn curry cooked by Andy. This is the third Saturday in a row we've had a curry (each time Andy has cooked a different type of curry - lamb rogan josh, a chicken tikka masala and tonight a murgh makhani curry) and I'm really loving it! Tomorrow it is forecast to rain so I will be needing to find some indoor jobs to do.
Hoping you have had a good day.
