The green and yellow hawthorn leaves and red haws provide bright colours in an autumnal landscape.  This morning before the rain I went for a walk beside some nearby fields and then got rather worried as it was extremely windy, so much so that I could hardly stay on my feet. Many trees line the lane and with much creaking and swaying of the trees and evidence of large branches and a couple of trees having fallen recently, I feared that one might fall on me.  If I hadn’t told my husband of my intended route along the lonely road I would have returned home another way.  Fortunately only a few twigs fell but it must have been an awful day for many travellers and those who had to work outside.
