Au Revoir, Farewell, Auf wiedersehen, Good night
Our last day, started with packing the car up and heading for the kids for a last brunch.
We took a last look at the devastation of the trees around and wondered about how they all managed to maintain life - when British Rail collapse at a leaf falling on the tracks.
I was determined to enjoy my last meal with the kids and himself, and make the most of the time we had together.
I drove. Badly, again. I always drive badly in America. Wrong lanes, wrong exits, too fast, too slow. Wrong direction. But i got us there.
This place - Cast Iron Kitchen, has a wait list of about an hour. The kids had arrived before us, and put their names down. We still had to sit outside on the deck for 45 minutes before we got our table, and it was a great table.
JJ said we had to have the Pig Candy. and we did. That was our Breakfast Starter.
Pig Candy = Crispy Bacon Strips, chocolate Sauce, sweet potato chips, blueberries, Strawberries and hot sauce.
Ooh but it was lovely. Weird but lovely.
Next up - Waffles and Fried Chicken, granola, Chocolate and Fig Jam Strawberries, maple syrup and also hot sauce.
I am very, very confused about the hot sauce, i was confused about all of the tastes. But Bloody hell I enjoyed them.
And it passed too soon.
Breakfast was over too soon.
The whole three weeks seem to have passed in the blink of an eye.
I had spent more time with my Boy than I had in the last 4 years.
We had met, and fallen in love with wee J , just like Boy.
We had driven 2,500 miles.
We had driven through six American States.
I stood in fron of A Ron Mueck.
We giggled hysterically at the prospect of Sleeping in a Planetarium instead of watching the stars.
We had drunk Jack Daniels, in the Very spot he started making it.
We visited Wild Turkey Distillery - the home of my best drink!
We sang the Star Spangled Banner, and "Don't Stop believing" in a Honky Tonk Pub in Nashville.
We climbed to the top of a 4000 ft view point, and saw NOTHING.
We saw Ground hogs.
We drunk over 50 different craft Beers.
We became experts in Cornhole.
We seen the after effects of a hurricane.
We ate too much.
I cried. As I always do; and set everyone else off.
Then,
We laughed, we hugged and we loved.
What a blast!
Let's do it all again soon Kids
X X X X Much Love
