Multiple tactics

There are many ways to organize resistance to tyranny and governmental violence. Rallies, vigils, marches, and meditations are a few ways. Making stuff like theatre, paintings, film, installations, posters, sculptures, graffiti, paintings, poetry, or songs are ways. Writing letters and postcards, circulating petitions, and contributing money are ways. Everyone needs to find out what they can do, and do that as much as they can. 

The USA is having “mid-term” elections November 6. Today twenty-three women in Oregon gathered to write postcards to people in Georgia, asking them to vote for Stacey Abrams, who they hope will be Georgia’s new governor, because they think she may change things in Georgia, and things need to be changed there and everywhere else in this country. 

Although we doubt the electoral safe-guards are in place for fair and free elections, we hope people will vote, if they can; and we hope that if people vote, change will come. If it doesn’t, with Trump’s people controlling the Executive, the Supreme Court and both houses of congress, what’s bad will certainly get worse. 

Regarding Aimee’s shoe project (Oct. 8), thanks for the suggestions. While it would be terrific if people all over the USA and elsewhere spray-painted shoes and hung them up to remind people of the incarcerated children, the truth is we have had NO requests for Aimee’s shoes, so we are not overwhelmed. She has now spray-painted about 500 pairs of shoes, so she has experience working with different shoe materials and different kinds of spray-paints and lacquers. She has learned from that experience. It’s not as easy as it looks. So the deal is still on. You can request shoes made by Aimee and we’ll mail them to you if you will just cover postage and whatever you want to donate to the next person’s pair of shoes. Or not. It’s up to you.
